Google Maps now get two-wheeler mode in India: 3 things that can help you best experience the feature

Google has recently announced that its Maps application has received the two-wheeler mode and India is the first country to get it. The company has revealed that India being the biggest two-wheeler market on the globe has got this feature on a priority basis. Out of all registered vehicles running on roads in India at present, close to 70 percent of them are two-wheelers. Google has even claimed that the its Maps app is doing good in India and the number of users using it has grown to two times over the last one year. The newly added two-wheeler mode on Google Maps can be found alongside the car, train and foot options. Furthermore, the new Google maps two-wheeler mode also supports voice navigation and customised routing. In order to use the Google maps two-wheeler feature, here are the top things that you should use in order to get the best experience.
First and foremost, the most difficult thing for bikers while using mobile navigation is that they have to hold the device in their hand while riding that can be dangerous. Even if they don't practice such thing, they have to stop after every few kilometres to check if they are going on the correct route or not. In order to avoid this, you can buy a smartphone mount that can be simply fitted on the handlebar of your two-wheeler on which you can mount your device. A good handlebar mount should cost you around Rs 500.
Second, since your smartphone is exposed to climate conditions, it is advised to use a waterproof cover before mounting it on the handlebar mount. This will not only protect your cellphone from unpredictable pouring but will also act as a shield from the dust. You can pick one such cover at a price as low as Rs 150.
Last but definitely not the least, you can opt for a decent Bluetooth headset if you do not want to mount your smartphone on the handlebar. As the two-wheeler mode on Google Maps supports voice navigation, simply start the app, put on the headset, enter your destination, put your cellphone in the pocket and the voice instructions will do everything for you when you are on your way. A good Bluetooth headset should cost you starting at close to Rs 400.

Beijing’s struggle against pollution will be tough, take time: Mayor

Beijing’s battle against air pollution will take time and be very tough to win despite recent improvements, the acting mayor of China’s capital said on Wednesday. The city has been fighting to clean its notoriously smoggy air through steps such as pushing households and factories to switch away from coal to cleaner fuels like natural gas. “Further improvement in air quality (will be) extremely difficult,” acting mayor of Beijing, Chen Jining, said in a statement released during the city’s congress meeting. The central government’s intense focus on air quality means many local officials’ careers are linked to the success of efforts to tackle smog, making it unusual to speak candidly about the challenges of meeting tough targets. Beijing has chalked up a short-term success by cutting the annual average level of breathable particulate matter (PM 2.5) to 58 micrograms per cubic metre in 2017, beating a target set by the State Council in 2012. However, the city is still some way f...

Bannon, ousted from the White House in August, was quoted in “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” by journalist Michael Wolff, as saying a June 2016 meeting with a group of Russians attended by Donald Trump Jr. and his father’s top campaign officials was “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.” (Photo: Reuters) President Donald Trump’s former strategist Steve Bannon on Sunday backed away from derogatory comments ascribed to him about Trump’s son in a new book that sparked White House outrage and could threaten Bannon’s influence as a would-be conservative power broker. Bannon, ousted from the White House in August, was quoted in “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” by journalist Michael Wolff, as saying a June 2016 meeting with a group of Russians attended by Donald Trump Jr. and his father’s top campaign officials was “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.” The president responded by saying Bannon had lost his mind, and the White House suggested the hard-right news site...
